A bit back we saw a chaotic battle royale in Ring of Honor, where the last two men standing were ‘The Ace of Space’ LSG and ROH Dojo standout Joe Keys. That set up this match, and whoever wins gets ranked in their choice of the Pure or TV Championship divisions. LSG has a veterans edge here for once, but Keys is quickly proving just how good he can be, and this one could go either way.
Joe Keys & LSG Know Each Other Well
After a handshake to adhere to the Code of Honor, these two would get right into it. They’d scramble for control, with Keys able to keep up with LSG, but LSG blocked a single leg takedown and got the rear waistlock. Keys was shoved off the ropes, but a springboard was caught into a backslide attempt.
Neither man could get a solid blow early on, with these two being familiar with lots of counters in mind. Keys finally got a strike on LSG with a chop, and LSG got him back with a few of his own. Coming off the middle rope for a sunset flip, Keys instead just rolled LSG forward for a dropkick.
LSG would go for a rolling neckbreaker, but Keys would counter into a backbreaker before we’d go into a commercial break. Back from the break, Keys had LSG grounded in the middle of the ring with a surfboard stretch. LSG was able to slip out only to be dropped with a German Suplex for a two count.
LSG Outwrestles Keys
Keys would look for the Boston Crab, but LSG was too close to the ropes and would be able to prevent the hold. LSG countered a backdrop and hit a springboard forearm for a two count. Keys would be kept down for another pinfall attempt, but LSG could only get a two count.
A cravat would be applied, and Keys wasn’t able to counter out with a scoop slam. Instead, he’d be let go for a neckbreaker for a two count before LSG went back to the hold in the middle of the ring, now with Keys sat down. Keys was able to get back to his feet and nail a desperate bodyslam. LSG would be able to retake control with Rocket-By-Baby before applying the Muta Lock.
Keys would scratch and claw to the ropes, and despite LSG blocking by grabbing the hand, the hold would be broken. LSG would be nailed with an explosive suplex, before they’d trade pinfall attempts. A pump kick to the jaw from LSG would see him drop Keys, and a quick crucifix pinfall would let LSG grab the win.
This was a very smooth technical wrestling match which might as well been under Pure Rules. They kept it clean, and LSG once again proved that he’s one of the best wrestlers on the roster, while Keys keeps getting better and better. Match Rating: 3.25/5 (*** 1/4)
Following the match, LSG would join the Pure Rules division and be put into the rankings. Could he be the one to dethrone Jonathan Gresham? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
