Semi-featherweight champion Jan Blachowicz vowed to show younger fighters how men really fight when he takes on Glover Teixeira at UFC 266.
The 38-year-old champion, takes on the 41-year-old challenger in September. Jan Blachowicz is coming off a win over middleweight champion Israel Adesanya in his last outing. In doing so, the Pole proves to be part of the elite fighters in MMA. Meanwhile, Brazilian Teixeira continues to show tremendous quality despite being in his 40s with a sensational streak of five straight wins.
Jan Blachowicz vows to teach young fighters a lesson against Teixeira
In a recent interview, Jan Blachowicz explained how excited he is for his next fight against a great opponent like Glover Teixeira.
“I will enjoy this fight. I’m excited. He is a good fighter, he has a lot of experience. I think he will be his best version in this fight, because maybe it’s his last title shot. Maybe one of the last fights in his career. So, I think he will do whatever it takes to beat me, and I have to be ready for that. I think we’re going to show the young fighters how men really fight.”
Although Blachowicz and Teixeira are two of the oldest fighters in age within the UFC overall, both remain at the top of their careers right now. The Pole believes both will put on a show for the fans.
“I think he’ll try to take me down and control me on the ground, finish the fight on the ground. And my game plan will be to keep fighting, get to my feet and try to knock him out. And I will try to do this. Watch out for his boxing skills. But if he knocks me down, I’ll try to get up. But also my jiu jitsu is really good. So, I won’t panic. If I have a chance to submit him, I will try to do this, because my jiu jitsu is really good. But anyway, I will try to keep fighting standing and try to find a way to knock him out.”
