Gallus are determined to prove they are still one of the strongest forces that NXT UK has to offer. Last week, Wolfgang did his part when he was able to shut up Sam Gradwell in a hard hitting match. Tonight, both Mark & Joe Coffey are in action, with Mark taking on Sha Samuels in a singles match. He provoked Samuels backstage to get this match by impersonating him, and now has to back his words up.
Sha Samuels Is The More Experienced Singles Wrestler
After some more trash talk, these two brawlers would lock up. Samuels hit a kick to the gut of Coffey before applying a headlock, only for Coffey to slip out and grab a headlock of his own. He’d be shoved off but nailed a shoulder tackle and back elbow strike, before grabbing an armbar on the mat. Samuels fought free, and would deck Coffey with some big lariats before grinding his forearms across the face.
Coffey would take a PK to the back, but that would only get a two count. Samuels hit a nasty looking scoop slam but Coffey fought back and hit a russian leg sweep. Coffey would be sent off the ropes and hit with a body block before Samuels mauled him with strikes on the mat. He’d look to apply the Butchers Hook, but Coffey fought free and hit a back body drop.
Mark Coffey Survives Long Enough To Get The Win
Coffey would get back to his feet to slug it out with Gradwell, before driving him into the corner with a lariat and coming off the middle rope with a bulldog. Samuels took control, but he took time to yell ‘EAST’ and was dropped with a side slam. Coffey tried to set up a dropkick by throwing Samuels off the ropes, but Samuels put the breaks on and nailed a tight spinebuster.
Samuels again looked for the Butchers Hook, but Coffey was in the corner and he’d walk up the turnbuckles to counter. The enziguri would hit soon after and make way for a sliding elbow strike known as Crowning Glory, getting Coffey the win.
Mark Coffey doesn’t wrestle many singles matches, and it was clear in this one. When it was a brawl, he looked fine, but as the match went on his performance was sloppy. Samuels looked fine, but it wasn’t enough to save this match. Match Rating: 2/5 (**)
