A few weeks back, Vickie Guerrero was proud to announce that she got a new client in AEW. Andrade El Idolo has been hanging around ever since, giving interviews and promising a major surprise. However, when he last tried to unveil the surprise, he was interrupted by Matt Sydal. Tonight, Andrade makes his AEW in-ring debut against Sydal, and looks to claim the first of many wins.
Matt Sydal Isn’t Going To Be Looked Past
Andrade would hit the ring in Black Mask inspired gear with Vickie Guerrero at his side. He’d be looking like a star, but needs to back it up in the ring. Sydal would show some grappling prowess, before being dropped with a twisting brainbuster from Andrade. Andrade went up top and fought off the attack of Sydal, and hit the moonsault even after Sydal rolled away.
Sydal hit a leg sweep and a twisting standing moonsault, before going for a roll up and being countered. Andrade would have his leg attacked and took a spin kick to the face, before dropping Sydal down to the floor.Sydal would be met outside by an elbow from Andrade off the apron, before being put onto the apron and hit with a slingshot dropkick to send him straight back down.
Andrade El Idolo Claims The Victory In His Debut
Andrade would nail the three amigos, but wouldn’t go for the frog splash. Instead, he’d be countered looking for a back suplex.Sydal dodged a running high knee in the corner and hit a running leg lariat, before looking for a crucifix pin, getting a two count. Andrade hit a lariat and looked for the frog splash, and was met by Sydal.
Sydal dodged a foot stomp after being tripped up, before hitting a Meteora. Andrade would hit a hip toss into the corner before Double Knees to the back of the head and a Hammerlock Facebuster for the win. A solid debut for sure, and after the bell, he’d apply an armbar to show that he’s not here to be a fan favorite.
