The Elite has a stranglehold on the top of the AEW card, with Kenny Omega holding the AEW World Championship and The Young Bucks as AEW World Tag Team Champions. Tonight, they go back to their trio roots as they take on a set of high fliers in Dante Martin, Matt Sydal, and Mike Sydal.
The Sydals Match Up Well With The Young Bucks
Before the match, it was confirmed that Christian Cage faces Kenny Omega for the AEW World Championship at All Out. Omega wouldn’t start the match, letting Matt Jackson & Matt Sydal start things off. Sydal took Jackson down, only for Jackson to pop up and hit a throat chop. Jackson went for a scoop slam, but Sydal slipped out and hit a twisting senton. Mike tagged in to hit a double stomp, before getting deep arm drags. He’d get a two count off a crucifix pinfall, before tagging in Dante.
Nick tagged in and took a huge dropkick, before Matt Jackson came back in. Omega would hit Martin from behind, before taking a double enziguri from the Sydal Brothers. A triple baseball slide dropped The Elite on the floor, before they launched Martin onto the pile. Back in the ring, Martin got a two count off a high crossbody. Mike tagged in and got a two count off a standing moonsault, before Omega came in and nailed a reverse bulldog.
Nick tagged in and stomped Mike out, before slamming him down to allow Omega back in safely. A flashing elbow got a two count, before Mike found himself trapped in the corner of The Elite. Omega would punish the groin of Mike before they hit a combo facebuster into the Kotoro Crusher, but it only got a two count.
Dante Martin Shows His Skills Against The Elite
Mike would weave out of the way and tag in Matt Sydal, who would fire up and take The Elite on. A big fisherman buster got a two count, and a double hurricane set up a submission on Matt. Mike would get into the mix to add more pressure, but Omega came in and nail some snap dragons. Martin would out-maneuver Omega and get the tag. He’d get The Young Bucks in the corner, before diving out onto Omega with a hurricarana.
A big moonsault in the ring got a two count, and the crowd was on fire by this point. He’d miss a double foot stomp, before things broke down with some heavy strikes. Omega would hit the Fishermans Ushigorishi on Martin, before a V-Trigger and One Winged Angel for the win. Or that was the plan, Martin countered out briefly before rolling Omega up for a two count. Another major V-Trigger & Omega ended this with One Winged Angel and a BTE Trigger.
A frantic and intense six man tag team match which made the entire crowd get onto their feet, especially in the final stretch with Dante Martin & Kenny Omega. They pulled out all the stops here, and gave an opening match to remember. Match Rating: 4/5 (****)
