As Meghan Markle celebrated her 40th birthday, Prince William and Kate Middleton were on hand to send their best wishes.
How Did Meghan Markle’s 40th Birthday Go?
William and Kate have had a strained relationship with Meghan ever since she left the Royal family with Harry. This was exacerbated by Meghan’s interview with Oprah Winfrey on CBS in which she claimed that Kate had made her cry, even though the media had reported that the opposite had happened.
While there is still clearly some animosity present between them all, William and Kate put that aside to offer some warm words. In a post on Instagram, they had nothing but good things to say about Meghan. They said: “Wishing a happy 40th birthday to the Duchess of Sussex!”
So how did Meghan celebrate? Well, it was reportedly a very small birthday bash. Only very close family and friends were in attendance, as the couple wanted to keep things intimate given how much they had been through over the last year. Not only that, but given the pandemic, the couple did not feel it was appropriate to have lots of guests around.
A source revealed: “She feels it would be wrong to organize a big birthday bash in the midst of a pandemic. Meghan isn’t fazed about entering into a new decade of her life. She’s embracing turning 40 years old.” With that in mind, Meghan turned her attention to bigger things.
She announced that she would be launching a new 40×40 campaign that is designed to mentor women for 40 minutes who are looking to get back to work as normal amid the pandemic. Given that Meghan had to take a step back from work too following her pregnancy, she is hoping that she can share some sage words. And yet, that is just the start of it. She has called on other influencers and world leaders to take up the cause.
In a statement given on her behalf, her representative said: “The Duchess asked 40 activists, athletes, artists, and world leaders to participate…As women continue to reenter the workforce, we believe that mentorship is one way to help women regain confidence and rebuild their economic strength.”
