Melissa McCarthy is a good friend of Meghan Markle, and their friendship has grown further ever since the former decided to join Meghan’s new 40×40 project.
Melissa McCarthy Praises Meghan Markle Over Her 40×40 Project
This initiative was set up with the aim of making sure that women, who had been staying at home during the pandemic, had the chance of making a smooth transition back to the workforce through mentoring. This was a cause that was very close to Meghan’s heart, given that she had experienced similar issues.
She had to re-navigate her career ever since she joined and then left the Royal family. Not only that, but her pregnancy (which occurred during the pandemic), provided a further challenge. So when Melissa heard of Meghan’s campaign, she felt it was only right that she jumped on board by making an appearance in the promotional video.
In an interview with Access Hollywood, Melissa had nothing but warm words for Meghan. She said: “She’s doing such an amazing thing to celebrate her 40th. I just love that she’s like, ‘Oh, what can I do to put some good [in the world] and help some people out?’ I was like, ‘Well, that’s awfully nice.'”
Not only did Melissa play a starring role in the promotional video, but Meghan’s husband (Prince Harry) also made an appearance. However, it was not in the way that many would have envisaged. In one of the scenes, Harry was seen juggling outside the window that was visible in Meghan’s eye-line. And that highlight has stayed with Melissa ever since.
She added: “Then in comes, Harry and he’s like, ‘I can juggle,’ and I’m like, ‘Oh, my God, if you juggle, you’ll break [the internet]. Then he’s like, ‘Is it going to be weird if I stand outside and juggle?’ I was like, ‘Weird in a way that will make me watch it five million times!'”
With so much clearly on her plate, Meghan should be praised for the manner in which she has stayed strong following the backlash she has received after her exit from the Royal family. Melissa’s following comments confirmed as much: “They were so sweet and funny. I just find them very inspiring.”
