Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have taken steps to alleviate the problems that women have been facing in Afghanistan due to the resurgence of the Taliban.
Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Have Made A Donation To The ‘Women For Afghan Women’ Organisation
Harry, for his part, is well aware of the country’s problems after having served in the British Army during the earlier parts of his life. While Meghan may be a stranger to getting actively involved, it seems this has now changed with the couple’s latest move.
The pair have decided to make a donation to the Women For Afghan Women (WAW) organisation in order to help relocate those women who have suffered as a result of the tension in the region. And the organisation could not be any more grateful.
In a post on their Instagram, they said: “We are immensely grateful for the generosity of the Archewell Foundation in support of our efforts to evacuate/relocate thousands of Afghan women, children, families, including our staff.”
This initiative was a major response to the criticism that Harry and Meghan were getting. The duo had been accused of using their prior Royal connections to keep them relevant without actually making an active change.
This act of donating would suggest otherwise and dispel the attacks that were previously coming. Angela Levin, who happens to be a Royal biographer, had remarked: “I think Harry and Meghan [are] trying to set up some sort of alternate woke royal family.”
The criticism did seem unfair. After all, Harry had spent ten years in Afghanistan, which suggests that this was a cause close to his heart. Although he is no longer in the Royal family, that does not mean he does not have friends who are involved in trying to settle things in Afghanistan.
And his prior comments to the conflict hinted as much: “The world is exceptionally fragile right now. As we all feel the many layers of pain due to the situation in Afghanistan, we are left speechless.”
Harry and Meghan often get treated unfairly, so when they do something right, it is only fair that they should be praised for giving back to the various communities around the world.
