Prince William has been left feeling dejected with the news that Prince Harry will most likely be absent from acknowledging the 24th anniversary of their mother, Princess Diana’s death.

The two brothers have had a frosty relationship ever since Harry and Meghan Markle did their interview with Oprah Winfrey on CBS.
While it had been hoped that any resentment could be put aside for certain events, it seems there is still a long way to go before things can get back to normal. And that has been difficult for William to adjust to, given they had always paid their respects to their mother together.
In an interview with the Express, Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams remarked: “They always used to meet on this sad anniversary to relive memories of her.
“[But] I think it likely they will be in touch, but any contact between them will be private.” The main reason why Harry will not attend is the fact that he no longer resides in the UK.
In addition, the pandemic had not made travel any easier due to the changing nature of quarantine restrictions. While that is a suitable reason for his absence, the critics will always look to the negatives and suggest that Harry is choosing to be absent from the event.
Regardless of whether Harry does attend, William has been making sure that Diana’s legacy and memory have continued through his three kids: George, Charlotte, and Louis.
They may not have been personally there to witness her, but their house has been decorated in a way that they remember her. In a documentary entitled ‘Diana, Our Mother: Her Life and Legacy,’ William spoke on the importance of talking about his mother to his children.
He stated: “We’ve got more photos up around the house now of her, and we talk about her a bit.” The best way that the brothers can remember their mother is to show a united front to the public.
Whether that means Harry attends or holds a special tribute is ultimately up to him. But their mother would only have wanted the duo to get along. Let us hope that they can work things out.
