There are plenty of Superstars on the WWE roster that deserve a meaningful championship run, and Big E is at the top of the list for many.
He’s not only been a tireless worker, but he’s a fan favorite no matter what he does. It’s a similar charisma to what Hulk Hogan had in that it’s never ending.
So, when he won the Money in the Bank contract fans everywhere rejoiced and he was welcomed to the following Smackdown to a chorus of “You deserve it!”
He does indeed, and it appears the WWE has some big plans for him.
But Big E has some of his own, which he recently teased on an episode of The New Day: Feel The Power podcast.
Getting his name back
Big E’s sense of humor was at the fore as they celebrated his win, and he joked about going to the WWE offices and cashing in the MITB contract to get hit last name back.
Special thanks to ewrestling.com for the transcript.
“I have decided that, since I have the Money in the Bank briefcase, I have found there is a loophole and I want to use it to cash in to get my last name. Titles are important, they are, don’t get me wrong, but I think I’d like to use it (to get my last name). I’m gonna sit on it and think on it, but I found it in fine brought that it’ll allow me to get my last name back. I had my lawyer look over it and we celebrated. That is the victory, becoming whole again. Being world champion is exciting, but you know how bad I want to be Langston.
“I’m gonna go to Stamford, I’ll have a camera crew with me, I’m gonna knock on someone’s door and say, ‘I’d like to cash in for my last name.’ They’re going to be confused and I’m gonna say, ‘Read the fine print.’ I’m sure a lot of people will be disappointed and it will hurt my career in many ways because it’s not the most effective use of the briefcase, but it’s how I choose to live my life. Don’t judge me.”
This type of thing is why he’s so loved. He’s genuine and pleasant to listen to and watch.
It’s no wonder the WWE has other plans for him, though we do have to wonder what took them so long to start down this road.
Universal Championship
Since winning the MITB contract, Big E hasn’t been shy about his plans to cash in on Roman Reigns and while it’d be an awesome match between them in general, this has so much potential.
But the WWE has tied him to Apollo Crews the last couple of weeks and has led us to think he could cash in on the Intercontinental Championship and then make a play for the Universal.
It’d be fun to see Big E have and defend two championships for a bit, and being a double champion is the rage in the WWE over the last year, so it’s a possibility.
We could see him and Reigns being built up similar to Hulk Hogan and the Ultimate Warrior for WrestleMania 6, though we don’t think they’ll go that grand a scale.
We’d love to see him cash it in at SummerSlam and leave Reigns and John Cena high and dry. We don’t see Cena sticking around to be champion, so either Reigns will win or Big E will cash in?
