LA Knight already has the Million Dollar Championship, and Cameron Grimes as a butler, but he wants more than that. Grimes isn’t the best butler, and still wants the championship, but things had to be worth it for LA Knight. So tonight, Grimes gets another shot to become champion, but if he loses: Ted DiBiase himself will become the butler of LA Knight. The stakes are higher than ever, and Knight has two wins over Grimes, but will tonight be a different story?
LA Knight Weathers The Early Storm
Grimes would toss his Butler outfit into the trash on his way to the ring, with Ted DiBiase in his corner for this match. He’d get a great reaction from the crowd… unlike LA Knight, who all but got booed out of the building. However, that was music to his ears. The bell would ring, and LA Knight would keep on taunting, before driving Grimes into the corner and getting the taste slapped out of his mouth.
Some big chops would follow before a running knee to the midsection, before Grimes looked for the Million Dollar Dream. Knight slipped to the outside, and despite some sly dodging would take a PK right to the jaw. Grimes would throw him into the barricade, before getting an assist from DiBiase with a dropkick to Knight.
Knight would rally back with a toss into the barricade of his own, followed by tripping up Grimes on the top rope. Grimes crashed down ribs first, and Knight was finally in control. Right in front of DiBiase, Knight would hit a slingshot into the bottom rope, before taking a boot to the face from Grimes. A high crossbody got a two count, but an attempt at the Cave-In was countered right into a powerbomb for a near fall on Grimes.
Slowing the pace right down, Knight would apply a neck crank in the middle of the ring. The crowd would do their best to hype up Grimes, and that energy would help him power his way to his feet and out of the hold. However, he’d walk right into a powerslam, snuffing out the comeback before it could even come. Knight would look for a jumping elbow drop, but Grimes was able to deftly roll out of the way.
Cameron Grimes Gets A Million Dollar Victory
A springboard moonsault from Knight would also miss, taking the wind out of the champion. Grimes would hit some running forearms before looking for the Million Dollar Dream again, instead settling for a German Suplex. A hurricanrana would get a two count, before Knight would trip Grimes up to stall his momentum.
Knight pulled Grimes up into a torture rack but lost the grip, before hitting a diving bulldog, and nailed the reverse death valley driver for a two count. He’d look for the cutter, but Grimes was ready to counter and catch him in the middle of the ring with a Spanish Fly. Grimes was placed onto the top rope, before a super German Suplex for a two count.
Finally, Grimes would be able to apply the Million Dollar Dream, and despite being driven back into the corner wouldn’t break the hold, even with Knight countering into a pinfall. Grimes held it in tight, but Knight was able to drive him into the corner face first. Knight would go outside and grab the championship, being stopped by the referee as he got into the ring and walking into a high kick. While the referee was removing the championship, DiBiase hit a big right hand and applied the Million Dollar Dream briefly. Finally, The Cave In landed, and Grimes fell into the pin to win.
A solid back and forth match, which sold the stakes of the rivalry, but the chemistry in the ring has never been there. IThe involvement of DiBiase in the finish was good fun, and brought this one above the level of average. Match Rating: 3.25/5 (*** 1/4)
