British Royal Family News: Queen Elizabeth II Honours The Victims Of The 9/11 Attacks
The world was shaken by the destruction of the Twin Towers and Building 7 on a day where the world changed forever. While the families of the victims will continue to be in mourning, the Queen has made sure that she recognised all those who had lost their lives.
In a post to her followers on Instagram, she said: “As we mark the 20th anniversary of the terrible attacks on 11th September 2001, my thoughts and prayers.
“Those of my family and the entire nation — remain with the victims, survivors, and families affects.” The Queen may be aware of what it is like to lose a loved one (Prince Philip), but it cannot be compared to the attacks that were motivated by such heinousness.
In addition, the Queen did make several trips to the area in the aftermath of the attacks to show just how much bravery the American people showed. After all, it was a constant reminder.
She added: “My visit to the site of the World Trade Center in 2010 is held fast in my memory. It reminds me that as we honour these from many nations, faiths and backgrounds who lost their lives.”
This statement was also accompanied by a special tribute held by the Queen at Windsor Castle to remember the lives that were lost. This included a guard of honour, followed by a minutes silence to show respect to the dead.
Philip T. Reeker, who happens to be the U.S. ambassador, remarked: “We’re incredibly grateful to her Majesty the Queen for the playing of our national anthem.
“[It] represents the friendship and solidarity between our two countries, the United States and the United Kingdom, and united is the key word.”
The events that happened in New York will never be forgotten, and the date serves as a reminder that the families of the victims need all the help that they can get. And if the Queen can play her part in doing it, then more power to her for doing it.
