During the Super Junior Tag League, we’d see Roppongi 3K lose match after match, ending with SHO dropping YOH out of anger. They’ve both been breaking out as singles stars recently, making the split a matter of when, not if. However tonight we will see who is set to be the big star of the group, as they clash one on one in MetLife Dome.
Roppongi 3K Explodes
SHO would have a new theme song, intro video and look. This isn’t someone considering tag team success, and after weeks away from the spotlight he seems ready to tear his former partner apart. Despite all this, he’s still a member of the CHAOS faction, but if he sticks around that is yet to be seen. He is looking more like a member of United Empire, who does lack a Junior Heavyweight ahead of Best of The Super Juniors.
As soon as YOH hit the ring, he could start throwing forearms at SHO before we’d even hear the bell ring. Rocky Romero passed along comments to Kevin Kelly, saying that if he was in Japan he could have helped this not get so far. YOH would drop SHO with a low dropkick before raining down some forearm shots. However, despite this hard opening assault, SHO had a sick smile on his face.
SHO was thrown to the outside where he threw an innocent Young Lion into YOH. Maybe he’s looking to move to Suzuki-Gun with tactics like that. YOH became well acquainted with the barricades, before SHO would bend the arm to YOH around the support beams of the turnbuckle. He’d refuse to break the hold until forced by the referee, before wrapping the arm around the barricade and kicking it in time with the referee’s twenty count.
The count was broken, before YOH was thrown around again on the outside and SHO was looking for a countout, again. Back in the ring, SHO would maintain his grip on the match, and go after the arm once again. YOH was looking defeated already, but SHO wasn’t done having fun.
YOH Tries To Show The Fight That Has Been Missing
SHO would choke YOH in the corner and ask him if that was enough. He was asking where the fight was, where it’s been since he got back? YOH would try to show this before having his eyes raked. A desperate dropkick would land, and the comeback was started but nearly stopped just as fast with an armbreaker over the ropes.
YOH would hit a dropkick on the outside before a big dive outside. In the ring, a Falcon Arrow would lead to the first cover of the match, getting a two count. SHO would be propped up on the top rope. He’d look for the superplex, but be fought off the first time. YOH came back a second time, but was caught in a powerbomb. The powerbreaker would land, hurting the knees to SHO as well as the back of YOH.
A series of German Suplexes would follow from SHO, with YOH leaping to the ropes at two and managing a dragon screw before the Stargazer. SHO would quickly counter, and go back after the arm with an armbreaker and kick. A jumping knee would do little, before YOH hit a German Suplex. SHO would nail a big lariat in response, and call for Shock Arrow. YOH countered back into Stargazer.
Unable to break the hold, he’d crawl to the ropes, only for YOH to roll back into the middle of the ring. He’d wrench back deep and do some damage, but SHO got the ropes. A dropkick to the back of the knee and dragon suplex into the corner would punish SHO, before they’d trade forearms in the middle of the ring. YOH was shoved into the referee, dodged a chair shot, refused to use it, and took a low blow. Chair shot, Omoplata applied and SHO wins.
An over twenty minute long and intense and deeply personal match, this one saw SHO not target the previously injured knee, but rather look to create his own injury on YOH with the arm. He showed a more intense and dark heel persona, and it suited him. YOH would be the underdog babyface, a role that suits him. A nice story told here, with the action really delivering in the end – but it went too long. Match Rating: 3.5/5 (*** 1/2)
Could we ever see Roppongi 3K reunite after this bitter match and feud? After the match, SHO put on a Bullet Club shirt and officially left CHAOS. Will this move benefit him? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
