Prince Harry has been looking back at the relationship between the late Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth II.
Prince Harry Looks Back At Queen Elizabeth II And Prince Philip’s Relationship
Philip, for his part, passed away at the age of 99 this year which sent shockwaves across the monarchy due to the timing of the death. His passing had coincided with Harry and Meghan Markle’s bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey.
Therefore, his death left a huge void in the monarchy, but also within the Queen’s life, who had to see her husband depart and, as such, take on the majority of the Royal duties that she had previously shared.
In a documentary entitled ‘Prince Philip: The Royal Family Remembers’, Harry looked back on the special relationship that Philip and the Queen had. He said: “The two of them together were just the most adorable couple.
“To me, knowing the cheekiness of him and knowing that behind what the world sees, you have two individuals who were very much in love and both, from a very young age, have dedicated their life to service.”
Despite the controversy surrounding Harry’s interview being released near Philip’s death, it is clear that he cared a lot for Philip. The latter had been responsible for making sure that the Queen presided over her role for over 50 years.
And being there by her side made sure that the Queen was able to navigate any difficult times. That is something that Harry recognised and is going to miss.
He added: “[I] miss him more for my grandmother because I know how incredibly strong she was with him there. I also know she will be OK without him.”
If Harry does feel this way, then he should reconsider releasing any memoirs in light of the fact that he could destroy any relationship with the Queen.
He is currently set to release his memoir in 2022 with increasing speculation that he may reveal more secrets that could damage the monarchy. This begs the question, would Philip have approved of his behaviour.
The answer is probably not, and it is a reminder for Harry in going about his business. Philip may no longer be here, but his legacy continues to live on.
