Prince William and Kate Middleton have been using their charity, the Royal Foundation, to focus on increasing diversity.
Prince William and Kate Middleton Want To Focus On Diversity
The foundation was created in 2009 initially by William and Prince Harry. This was then expanded to include Meghan Markle.
However, after Harry and Meghan resigned from their positions in 2019 due to their decision to leave the Royal family, there were concerns over whether the charity would continue.
But that has now been dispelled by William and Kate. In a statement given on behalf of the foundation, we can see the objectives of the organisation.
The statement said: “The Royal Foundation remains committed to equality and diversity and to ensuring a positive, safe and respectful environment which promotes the wellbeing and dignity of its employees.”
This commitment is certainly commendable, but it still does raise the question, why did this not occur when Meghan was part of the Royal family?
In her interview with Oprah Winfrey, Meghan spoke about how she had to deal with concerns over the colour of her son Archie’s skin by the Royals.
In addition, Harry stated that he was shocked to see how his wife had become a victim of racist abuse. Having said all that, it is better late than never.
The statement added: “[The foundation] aims to promote equality of opportunity and diversity and to tackle any forms of discrimination, harassment or bullying within its working environment, whether on grounds of age, disability, gender… [or] race.”
Despite Meghan’s claims, the Royals have been left fuming at the manner in which Meghan has acted. Royal expert Omid Scobie admitted that the Royal family were left feeling betrayed over how Meghan could bash them so openly.
This was because they had welcomed her into their institution with open arms and tried to make sure that she was fine.
In a previous interview with Entertainment Tonight, he remarked: “[There are] still feelings of anger [about] the way the couple carried out their departure from their royal lives.
“[William] has not been able to come to terms with [it] yet.” Let us hope that everyone involved can learn from their past mistakes and avoid upsetting any future members of the Royal family.
