That was highly criticized by fans, with it even having a response from Jeff Hardy. However, there may be some hope for Jeff Hardy in the future. As he has now commented that he will use Willow again before he retires. This being one of the beloved characters of Jeff Hardy.
What Jeff had to say about Willow
Speaking Culture State podcast, Jeff Hardy said this:
“Speaking of Willow, I was just talking to the guy who makes the mask, who made it back then. He’s an awesome mask maker and making a new Willow mask and talking about the possibility of Willow entering the scene once again before my career is over. There we go, it’s gonna happen.”
Currently, we have seen Willow in Impact and ROH but not WWE. But like Matt Hardy’s Broken character, it’s the right place for it.
Will we see it at WWE or AEW?
Jeff Hardy’s contract is ending in the next couple of years. Making it likely, we may see Willow’s return in AEW rather than WWE. This is due to the fact that the reunion of the Hardy Boyz is running out of time.
There is also the fact that the number of freedom wrestlers gets in AEW means that both Matt and Jeff can do whatever characters they want. For example, Jeff Hardy could debut as Willow in AEW. At the moment, WWE doesn’t feel like the right place for Jeff’s character as nearly everything supernatural doesn’t work there.
