Without counting the recent branch of Bullet Club known as House of Torture, The United Empire is the youngest faction in New Japan Pro Wrestling. Formed by Will Ospreay at the end of the G1 Climax in 2020, it’s since grown to a trio of tough customers. Ospreay, Great O-Khan, Aaron Henare and Jeff Cobb have all been fantastic, with Ospreay even winning the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship along the way.
Hell, he’s still claiming to be the real World’s Champion after being forced to vacate due to injury. However, while we get a new member in Dallas, Texas; two men joined tonight, giving another tag team to The United Empire. This went down in the UK at a Rev Pro show, as Aussie Open are now in the faction.
Aussie Open Join The Faction Of Will Ospreay – The United Empire
Mark Davis & Kyle Fletcher aren’t unknown to NJPW, having previously challenged for the IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Championships at Royal Quest. However, they’ve never formally been on the roster until now. At Rev Pro High Stakes, they’d claim the RevPro Undisputed British Tag Team Championships from Connor Mills & Michael Oku. This makes them double champions, also being the PWA Tag Team Champions.
Will Ospreay remains the Rev Pro Undisputed British Heavyweight Champion as well. He’d defend that championship against Ricky Knight Jr. in the main event, and after the match looked to keep the beatdown coming. NJPW Young Lion Shota Umino would make the save, only to get beaten down. Davis & Fletcher seemed to be there to make the save, but were actually there to help Ospreay in a three on one beatdown.
They’d officially join his faction, putting United Empire up to six members, with a seventh to come – possibly Buddy Matthews. This faction is really growing, and when all members unite, they might be unstoppable. Jeff Cobb is potentially on his way to winning the G1 Climax and dethroning the ‘fake’ IWGP World Heavyweight Champion, and now Aussie Open could be set for World Tag League.
Was this a smart grab by NJPW? Do they fit this faction? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
