Tomorrow night is a big night for AEW – being the first ever WrestleDream event. One key match is FTR vs. Aussie Open for the AEW World Tag Team Championships – a rematch a year in the making.
Tonight, we get a preview of this match as part of an all star eight man tag team match – as FTR teams with Bryan Danielson & Wheeler Yuta – and Aussie Open team with Ricky Starks & Big Bill.
Joining commentary for this match is Danielson’s opponent tomorrow, the NJPW World Television Champion – Zack Sabre Jr.
Bryan Danielson Is Ready To Give His Hometown Something To Remember
Seattle’s own Bryan Danielson would get a hero’s welcome for his main event match – with fellow Blackpool Combat Club member Wheeler Yuta by his side.
Starks would start the match alongside Cash Wheeler – before Yuta got the tag. Fletcher would trade holds with Yuta, before a roll up for a two count.
Davis & Harwood would get into the ring and trade some heavy strikes, before a German Suplex sent Harwood to the floor. An eight man brawl nearly broke out at ringside – with Harwood unable to be saved. Bill would throw his weight around in the ring, hitting a running big boot in the corner.
Fletcher would get the tag and but himself between Harwood and a tag – applying a rear chinlock. A backdrop suplex would get Harwood free, and Wheeler would get the tag before Fletcher hit a crisp powerslam – but took time taunting and missed a tag to Yuta. Flying dropkick took Fletcher down, before a German Suplex for a two count.
Starks would hit the ring and met his WrestleDream opponent Yuta – who hit some Hammer & Anvil Elbows. Bill hit a big boot, allowing Starks to gain control of the match.
An octopus stretch would be applied by Starks in the middle of the ring – but Yuta was able to wrestle his way to freedom.
Danielson would be eager for a tag – but was unable to find one as Aussie Open would show their perfect tag team synergy with Davis throwing Yuta into the air for Fletcher to catch with a Sit Out Powerbomb. Starks would continue to beat Yuta down, working with Aussie Open to keep the ring firmly cut in half.
Dax Harwood Gets Taken Out By Bill & Starks
Yuta & Starks would meet in the middle of the ring with a double crossbody – and Danielson finally had his chance to get into the ring.
Picking up where he left off with Starks, Danielson would be vicious with his strikes in the corner – leaving ZSJ unimpressed on commentary. Starks would be sent to the floor and hit with a suicide dive – Danielson keeping the pressure on.
Starks would hit a lariat in the ring before the Tornado DDT. Bill would get the tag and Danielson would manage to apply the LeBell Lock.
Fletcher would help ensure Bill didn’t tap out, before this match broke down into an eight man brawl. BCC & FTR would hit roundhouse kicks to their opponents, leaving just Bill in the ring.
A diving headbutt from Harwood would get a two count, before Bill would end up in the Sharpshooter. Bill was able to power his way out and tried for the Chokeslam – lifting Harwoowd up for the spear. This would score a three count – with Wheeler a step slow on the save.
Aussie Open would drop Wheeler after the bell, and if this is how things end at WrestleDream – we will have new tag team champions.
Danielson & Yuta would regain control, and ZSJ was invited into the ring. They’d come face to face – and tomorrow, we get the dream match 15 years in the making. Who is the best technical wrestler in the world? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
