AEW started its whole company by building up factions; both Inner Circle and Dark Order were the company’s focus. This seemingly led to a lot more factions being created like the Pinnacle, HFO, Team Taz and The Elite. However, somehow the more factions that were made, the worse they got.
Even the faction that has been going for a while has dipped in quality and even seeing them together. Most factions don’t even really appear together anymore, and the ones we do are either boring or The Elite.
What’s wrong with the current factions in AEW?
AEW has made many factions over the years, but the only faction warfare we have seen recently is the Inner Circle Vs the Pinnacle. But even that fault is badly built with it dipping in the quality of matches and having them in a weird order.
Then seeing some faction gets annoying after a while with HFO just being a very bunch of random tag teams. Dark Order is a bunch of three tag teams and Team Taz feuds going way too long. It seems like apart from the Inner Circle, the Elite and the Pinnacle factions are poorly built and always bulked by tag teams to make them look like a faction rather than just a mix of mismatched tag teams.
Should AEW let go of Factions?
Looking through the roster, if a story is put together well. A faction can work well, but they have to appear together occasionally and at least by mention. The fact that some factions are just a butch of tag teams doesn’t make much sense and should most likely break up.
The faction really should be built so every member could possibly win a belt. The whole company also needs a Baby Face faction, kind of like the New Day in WWE. The mismatch of Jurassic Express running in with Bryan Danielson and Christian Cage is getting very old. It feels like the whole factions within AEW really need a mix up as the whole system in place feels very dull.
