It’s hard to keep track of all the talent who was let go by WWE over the past year. However former NXT North American Champion Bronson Reed has been determined to remain in the conversation as he tries to regain his footing. From challenging anyone who would listen to matches on Twitter and getting booked for Bound For Glory before the match was cut ahead of the show – it’s been a rough road, but he’s just following some advice given by a legend in Shawn Michaels.
Shawn Michaels Wanted Bronson Reed To “Go Prove Them Wrong”
While on a recent episode of the Wrestling Inc Daily Podcast with Nick Hausman, Bronson Reed would recall getting a very reassuring text following his shock WWE release. When it comes to NXT, Triple H is the main man in charge – but Shawn Michaels is just as important to their operations, being a head coach and having taken the reins when Triple H was down and out with health issues. Due to this, Michaels tends to build up a solid connection with talent.
During his interview, Reed would mention that it was originally the plan of Triple H for him to work Smackdown Live dark matches, and Michaels was quick to reach out after his release as he’d note in the following quote.
“I remember Hunter sitting down with me and telling me plans that we had going forward. He was always a big advocate for me and wanting me to be successful. He was actually the one that suggested for me to do the dark matches for the main roster saying that I was ready for those matches. I don’t think he ever thought I’d be released, and I haven’t been able to speak to him since. I know he’s obviously been going through some health problems and stuff like that, but Shawn, as soon as I was released, five minutes later, he texted me, shocked, telling me to, ‘go and prove them wrong.”
