WWE are far from done with their cost-cutting measures, now setting their sights on their NXT brand. This is another major set of releases, which could be on-going. If more names are cut, we will be sure to keep you updated and informed. There are some former champions in the mix, as well as some names who have only been recently signed. Let’s get right into it with the biggest names, starting with Bronson Reed.
Two Former NXT North American Champions Let Go In Bronson Reed & Leon Ruff
The most notable name in this batch is Bronson Reed. Reed most recently met Adam Cole on NXT TV, a match that came shortly after he lost the NXT North American Championship to Isiah ‘Swerve’ Scott. Reed had also worked some dark matches recently, and was seemingly set up to get called up to the WWE main roster.
Another recent NXT North American Champion in Leon Ruff has been released alongside Reed. Ruff hasn’t been on TV in months, but his signing and surprise title win in 2020 were major feel good moments, as Ruff had been one of the hardest working enhancement talents in WWE throughout the year. He was incredibly well liked backstage, so this one likely stung.
Another former champion was Bobby Fish. The former member of Undisputed Era had worked a match against Roderick Strong and his Diamond Mine faction this past week on NXT, and is the only member of Undisputed Era to have been released from WWE at this time. Speaking of Diamond Mine, Tyler Rust of that faction was also on the list of releases.
Other Names Include Mercedes Martinez, Jake Atlas And More
Those names are only the tip of the iceberg as well. Other names such as Mercedes Martinez, Jake Atlas, Ari Sterling, Asher Hale, and Kona Reeves are also gone. Some talent from the Performance Center such as Giant Zanjeer, Stephon Smith & Zechariah Smith have also been cut.
It’s possible these are only the public names from the PC, as those names can often fly under the radar. These cuts will impact the NXT brand, especially names like Bobby Fish & Bronson Reed. Do you think this will be the final set of cuts for 2021, or will WWE keep going? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
