Former WWE Star Lana Says She Could’ve Been Champion if She Was More Like Charlotte Flair
It’s important for us to think highly of ourselves and set our goals high, but we don’t always reach them for one reason or another, and former WWE star Lana recently spoke about this at a virtual signing.
As reported by @wrestling_mpw, Lana appeared for East Coast Autograph Auctions virtually and she shared her thoughts on not being champion while talking about a photo of herself.
It also appears that she also threw some shade at Charlotte Flair. Special thanks to @wrestling_mpw for the transcript.
“These were my bulking days. Probably 2017-2018, I felt like if I could bulk up and look like Charlotte Flair, then maybe I could become champion. Unfortunately, it didn’t work out for me. You know, not everyone can be genetically superior and also have a famous father that is 16, 17 time (champion). His daughter is going to surpass him pretty soon.”
In an odd twist, this reminds me of Jim Cornette once saying Vince McMahon has a type, and that’s Sable.
And since Charlotte is closer to fitting the Sable mold than Lana, so there could be more truth to Lana’s words than we know.
Understandable
Whether Lana’s still bitter and frustrated or being honest about what happens behind closed doors aside, this is along the lines of what fans have been saying for a while now.
Personally, I’m a Charlotte Flair fan, but I can understand any frustration people may have with her, but I think it’s more due to the WWE not building enough talent around her and limiting it to a small handful.
It’s the same thing with their tag division and all the record setting title wins. They all work hard, but both divisions are constantly in flux for this reason or that.
Of course, Lana’s comments could be taken out of context, though the mention of Ric Flair does make that argument a little harder to make.
For all we know, that could be how the office looks at Charlotte. It’s been addressed through Charlotte in character, but it’s also something that probably frustrates her as well as she’s trying to prove herself.
It’s a tough situation all around and those thoughts will always linger somewhere.
Lana definitely had her moments and she showed her toughness shortly before being released when someone decided she needed to be put through a table 13 or so weeks in a row.
However things work out, we wish Lana the best of luck wherever she goes. She is talented and in the right setting she could flourish.
