It’s always interesting to hear the story of professional wrestlers – and it has led to some best selling books. Names like Mick Foley & Chris Jericho have become New York Times bestsellers for books like Have A Nice Day: A Tale of Blood and Sweatsocks & The Lion’s Tale, and now someone else has a chance to enter that same conversation. Jon Moxley has written his own book now, and it drops on November 2nd.
Early Reviews From Those In The Industry Give It High Praise
Being Jon Moxley, he of course got “Sick” Nick Mondo to shoot a video to help promote this book. Mondo also shot the video that announced his return to the ways of Jon Moxley after he refused to sign a new contract in WWE. News about this book first dropped from Renee Paquette, Moxley’s wife who noted he was writing one back in January of this year.
While consumers have yet to get their hands on this book, some in the industry had quotes in this video. Bryan Alvarez of the FigureFourWrestling and author of Death of WCW said “Jon Moxley couldn’t have written a more Jon Moxley book.” Chris Jericho described it as “Funny. Emotional. Direct.” and Mike Johnson claimed it was “Full of twisted wit.”
Heck, it was even compared to Mick Foley’s first book – which is massive praise. This all comes together to seem like something that will be a great read, especially given the hard upbringing of Moxley, and his unique path through professional wrestling. I have my copy pre-ordered, and a review will be coming when able.
Jon Moxley Turned Down Writing Book In WWE
What makes this interesting is that Moxley flat out refused to write a book alongside WWE, who enjoy having top stars co-author books. From Eddie Guerrero to Drew McIntyre, WWE books have come out to mixed reception, and Moxley didn’t want anything getting in the way of him telling his story in his own way.
When speaking about this in an interview he had the following to say “I asked another guy who wrote a WWE book what the process was like because they crank those out. I was like, ‘If you could do it again, would you do it?’ He was like, ‘No, because it wasn’t the book I wanted it to be.’ That was all I needed to hear. I told WWE I wasn’t interested and turned it down.”
