Former UFC champion Michael Bisping was baffled as to why Conor McGregor would enter a scuffle at an awards ceremony. Some were baffled as to why Conor McGregor, a professional fighter, was a music video awards ceremony.
But Michael Bisping was most confused by what started the altercation. “Who in the right mind, what self-respecting man asks Machine Gun Kelly for a picture?”
Bisping on McGregor VMAs Fiasco: “What self-respecting man asks Machine Gun Kelly for a picture?”
Supposedly, McGregor snapped into action after he was denied a photo with the rapper, who then pushed Conor McGregor. Most would agree that provoking a professional fighter isn’t a great idea, but Kelly is no stranger to punching above his weight.
When Kelly was still rapping, he entered a widely-publicized feud with Eminem, which ended in MGK switching to pop punk. Perhaps he even thought that, considering Conor McGregor was walking on a cane at the red carpet, he might stand a chance against a two-division UFC champion.
Bisping elaborated on the issue on Instagram. “It means Conor was out of mind last night. There’s not a beef. I’m having my cup of coffee, I saw it last night. when I went to bed. I’m having my cup of coffee this morning and I’m scrolling and I saw, I forgot what website it was and they added an eyewitness. Now you never know, maybe the eyewitness is full of sh*t.”
After the push, McGregor threw a drink at Kelly and his girlfriend Megan Fox. Security intervened before the scuffle escalated any further.
“The eyewitness account that I read said that he went up to Machine Gun Kelly. I feel like an idiot even saying that sentence.
He went up and said, ‘Hey Machine Gun Kelly, how are you there?’ So he went up and tried to get a picture apparently and his security, Kelly’s security kind of shoved him away.
And that’s when Conor sh*t the bed. Who in the right mind, what self-respecting man asks Machine Gun Kelly for a picture? That’s what I wanna know.” McGregor was handed his cane after the scuffle and later denied knowing who Machine Gun Kelly was.
Conor McGregor will be out of action for the next few months at the very least. He sustained a gruesome leg break against Dustin Poirier in their trilogy fight on July 10, and although McGregor appears committed to recovery he won’t be fighting fit anytime soon.
