That is according to Lady Colin Campbell. The couple have received a mixed response to their Oprah Winfrey interview. The pair were praised in the United States for their bravery in leaving the Royals and starting afresh.
And yet, in the UK, it was anything but that. Harry and Meghan were accused of destroying the Royal family at a time when things were not exactly going well.
Their interview was released in line with Prince Philip’s hospitalisation, and his subsequent death left a bitter taste in the mouth. This explains why Meghan has not returned to the UK since then, while Harry’s visits have been fleeting.
In an interview, Lady Colin Campbell said: “They know they are going to be subjected to a lot of bad publicity, and they have been warned. I am reliably informed that the bad publicity they are getting is affecting their brand.
“So really, they have been warned off coming to England.” Bad press is something that the two will have to get used to. And it has not exactly been easy for the pair in the United States.
They have been accused of interfering in US politics and using their titles to garner more leverage. While they are intending to give back to the community, not everyone has been kind to them.
Just recently, Republican politician Jason Smith called on the Royals to remove the couple’s titles because of Meghan’s interference in calling for workers to receive paid maternity leave.
However, by not returning to the UK, it puts an end to the Royal family of ever reconciling. That is something that is sadly going to leave a mark on the future generations, as Harry and Prince William’s children will most likely never be in the same circles.
In doing so, it has made people question whether Meghan and Harry did the right thing in speaking out against the Royals when it could have potentially all been resolved behind closed doors.
