Queen Elizabeth II And Prince Charles Plant Trees Together
This is a cause that is held in Scotland where the Royals met up with some school children in order to plant trees. And this is part of a wider initiative to encourage people to look after the environment.
In a post on Instagram, we can see some pictures and videos of the pair. They are digging a hole as they place a tree in the ground. The post was captioned by the following comments: “The Queen and The Duke of Rothesay welcomed local school children onto the Balmoral Estate.
“[It was] to mark the start of the @QueensGreenCanopy tree planting season in the UK. Her Majesty and His Royal Highness planted a copper beech.”
This was only the start, though. The two were also there to recognise and honour some of the work that the children had been doing in this regard.
A new award, by the name of the Junior Forester Award, had been set up to teach children the skills that they need to manage a plot of land. And by having this launch, the Royals hope that many children will continue this campaign going forward.
The post added: “The children are the first class in the UK to undertake the Junior Forester Award, launched today.”
Despite having an environmental impact, the campaign also had a symbolic meaning. It was set up to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, which is set to go ahead at some point in 2022.
This would mark her 70th year in charge of the monarchy. And in an attempt to leave behind some form of a legacy, the Queen is hoping that more trees can be planted in her honour.
The following comments confirmed as much: “A unique tree-planting initiative created to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022 by inviting people from across the United Kingdom to ‘Plant a Tree for the Jubilee.”
This initiative will help improve the woodland around the UK, and it is only wise that people come together to take steps to improve the state of our planet. And this initiative, like many others, should be applauded.
