It started to feel like this week is the week where WWE and AEW are going against each other after 2 years. It feels like the boiling point has been hit, and both sides are trying their hardest to beat the other. AEW has been doing this for a while, but now WWE are pulling a lot more shots.
One of the recent shots reported is that WWE are leaking Rampage’s fast nationals. These are the early ratings for the show that can be revealed to people who pay for them. It’s basically a rough copy of the ratings. The following Tweet mentions this accusation.
The Tweet that suggesting this
From @voiceswrestling:
“Here’s the scoop. WWE is leaking the Rampage fast nationals. This was tipped off to us and then confirmed by at least one of the outlets that has been reporting them. Come up with your own motivations, but that’s who is feeding it to the news sites.
My theory is that their strategy is to present Rampage as AEW being weak. Smackdown airs on the same night, so it’s great P.R. to compare the numbers, especially since the general public has no understanding of what a good number is at Friday 10 pm (I mean, just look at this app)
It’s also notable that these leaks weren’t happening until Rampage began to level off. Find me a fast nationals headline for the Punk return or Rampage being #1 on cable. WWE can only claim AEW isn’t competition for so long. P.R. leaks and 2.5-hour Smackdowns were inevitable.”
The point here is…
These numbers were not revealed before the massive dip in ratings is the biggest reason it feels like WWE are behind this. There were no signs of these leaks when Rampage was hitting the over 1 million views around the time CM Punk returned to wrestling at AEW.
However, it is starting to feel like something is changing after the last couple of weeks and coming this week with both Smackdown and Rampage going against each other. It’s starting to feel like a changing point for both companies.
