When Bobby Fish was released from WWE earlier this year, his status in wrestling was up in the air. He was not exactly young, and gained an injury prone reputation in WWE NXT. However, he’d show up in MLW before signing a deal with AEW – with the Young Bucks pushing for him to get a job. He has further links into The Elite with Adam Cole, who was his ally back in WWE NXT.
Adam Cole Isn’t Ready To Work With Bobby Fish Yet
While speaking on a panel at New York Comic Con, Adam Cole would address this former Undisputed Era member – and his prospects of joining The Elite faction.
“Last time I was around Bobby Fish, things with my former group didn’t end so well. Not sure we’re on the best terms. Very happy that he’s in AEW, I hope everybody else too. We’ll see if it gets to the point where we invite him into The Elite. Don’t know if I’m emotionally ready for that yet.”
It’s nice to see some interpromotional kayfabe at play, and a show how good of a storyteller Cole & The Elite can truly be. However, if you’re the next opponent of Bobby Fish, you’d be wise to watch your back.
Bryan Danielson Should Still Watch Out
This Saturday on a special episode of AEW Dynamite, Bobby Fish is set to face off with Bryan Danielson. Danielson has been a thorn in the side of The Elite ever since he showed up and took Kenny Omega to a time limit draw. Fish having links to The Elite and The Elite having issues with Danielson could lead to some major trouble.
However, if Fish is going to ride alone – he’s going to fit into a role similar to that of Matt Sydal. A respected veteran who can go out and have a solid match with just about anyone. That’s a solid role for Fish to be in, as shown by his AEW debut where he looked better than Sammy Guevara.
