It’s that special time of the week, when we get to break down all the action that you might not have seen this week in WWE. They simply produce so much content on a weekly basis, that it’s nearly impossible to watch everything that WWE puts out – especially if you watch other promotions. However, here is what went down in dark matches, on WWE Main Event, and will happen on 205 Live this Friday!
Smackdown Live Brings Shane Throne Another Dead On Arrival Gimmick
Starting with last Friday on Smackdown Live, there was four dark matches. Kacy Catanzaro & Xia Li defeated Aliyah & Dakota Kai, Shane Thorne defeated Austin Theory, and Keith ‘Bearcat’ Lee took down a local name in Stephen Azure. After the show, Bianca Belair beat Becky Lynch in a non-title match.
This was where Thorne debuted his Crocodile Dundee gimmick, which feels like a massive step down from Slapjack. I can’t believe I just wrote that, but it’s true. He’s a talented worker, but has failed to find an act that really works for him in WWE. Maybe it’s just ridiculous enough to work, but it’s hard to find faith in it.
MACE Promotes Main Event By Making Jokes On Twitter – More Than WWE Does
Before Monday Night RAW, we’d see WWE Main Event taped. It brought two quick matches, with the first being a squash match for MACE. He crushed Austin Crane in under four minutes, and got a lot of tweets from it – which really feels like the reason why MACE exists in WWE. He’s here to smash small guys, post on Twitter, and just be entertaining. We’d also see a first time ever matchup, with John Morrison taking on Drew Gulak in a winning effort. Was a fine little match, wouldn’t mind seeing it on RAW.
Finally we get to 205 Live, which is still running. NXT 2.0 Dark would be a better name, but again we have a nice spread of talent. The opener saw Dante Chen defeat Malik Blade, with Chen getting his second WWE win. Big potential with him, and likely another quick one. Next up was some ladies action, with Amari Miller defeating Valentina Feroz. Finally in the main event of 205 Live, former NXT Tag Team Champions Imperium defeated Ikemen Jiro & Trey Baxter.
Will the draft benefit names like John Morrison or Shane Thorne? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
