Bron Breakker has risen up the NXT roster in record time, with him being able to beat LA Knight in his debut, and stepped right up to the NXT Champion without fear. Stepping up to Tommaso Ciampa takes guts, and so does stepping up to the inaugural NXT UK Tag Team Champions, The Grizzled Young Veterans. They had threatened to take Ciampa out, and Breakker wants Ciampa as ready as he can be for Halloween Havoc – but tonight, they team up in a tag match to see if they can beat the once dominant tag team.
Tommaso Ciampa Finds Bron Breakkers Protection Lacking
Ciampa would agree earlier in the night to just follow the lead of Breakker, who promised to keep him safe. Clearly Breakker knows best, and he’d start alongside James Drake, and dropped him with a shoulder tackle. Drake threw Breakker off the ropes, and got caught in a waist lock with ease.
Breakker would catch Drake out of the sky when he went for a leapfrog, before Ciampa forced his way in. Ciampa would miss a tag to Zack Gibson, but had zero issues taking on both of the Grizzled Young Veterans with some running lariats. Gibson was put into the corner of Breakker & Ciampa, and Breakker got a front row seat to a Ciampa knee strike.
Throughout a picture in picture break, both Drake & Gibson would work on Ciampa. A doomsday device with a suicide dive twist on the outside left Ciampa on the defensive, while Breakker stuck to his post in the corner. So much for protecting Ciampa from all harm.
Grizzled Young Veterans Get Run Over By A Rookie
Back from the break, Drake was losing grasp of a rear chinlock on the mat as Ciampa rose to his feet. Ciampa was shoved into GYV’s corner, but was able to fight out and hit a back suplex. Breakker would be pulled off the apron by Gibson, before Ciampa could make the tag. Gibson would tag in again, and choke Ciampa on the ropes, and GYV was keeping him well isolated.
Drake applied a Koji Clutch in the middle of the ring, and Ciampa would fight out by grabbing the leg of Drake. Ciampa was free, but a grab of the beard would see Drake get a punch between the eyes. Drake went for a German Suplex, and Ciampa twisted him into a DDT. The crowd wanted Breakker, and they’d get it – with Ciampa chopping his way to a tag.
Breakker was gonna take a swing at Ciampa but got Drake instead. The Steiner Recliner was applied, and Gibson kicked Drake free before being sent to the outside with ease.
