Cody Rhodes has sucked yet another name into the Codyverse, as Andrade El Idolo has come to the aid of Malakai Black in taking Rhodes down for good. He’s helped Black out on a few occasions, but tonight for the first time ever, Andrade goes one on one with The Prince of Professional Wrestling, in what should be a hard fought battle from both men.

Andrade would hit the ring seeking to win, despite Malakai Black being barred from ringside. However, earlier the show Black would reference the assassination of Julius Caesar – and not only one man betrayed him, more than one blade was in his back. Foreboding message for sure. Arn Anderson would join Rhodes at ringside for this one, and after the message earlier – might not be trustworthy. Who can he really trust?

Andrade Takes The Fight To Rhodes

Andrade started this one off with a stiff slap, and Rhodes fired back with some right hands in the corner. Rhodes would meet Andrade on the apron for a battle, and get kicked down but tripped Andrade face first onto the apron. Into the ring, Andrade would be set up top, but would fight Rhodes off before also countering a Cody Cutter – shoving Rhodes to the outside. He’d land hard on his knee, and Andrade followed up with a big chop block.

Andrade would apply a half crab in the ring, and while Rhodes fought free- Andrade maintained control with a running knee in the corner. Again to the outside, Andrade would keep moving with a pump kick before throwing Rhodes onto the barricade. Rhodes was finally able to dodge a knee strike on the outside, getting some ground.

He’d nail some running strikes and a powerslam in the ring, before grabbing a Double Underhook. Andrade fought free and nailed a hard back elbow, similar to a Judas Effect. The running double knees would be countered with a big lariat, and Rhodes called for Cross Rhodes but this was countered into Three Amigos from Andrade. He’d even send the final suplex into the corner- some extra damage before the running double knees.

Cody Rhodes Should Have Watched Out For Some Lucha Libre Legends

Rhodes would dodge a split legged moonsault, but take another back elbow. He’d show Andrade a bionic type of elbow, before taking a boot to the face. Andrade would take a page from the Flair family, which he joined outside of the ring and applied a Figure Four. However Rhodes know how to block this hold, and Cody would turn it over. Andrade slipped out of the ring, and Jose would block the dive.

Arn Anderson took him out, and by the time Cody hit the dive – FTR were there with their AAA Tag Team Championships. Cody hit the belts, and back in the ring took the Hammerlock DDT for the finish. After the bell, it was a beatdown – but Arn would stare down Tully and want to battle his old partner, before Lucha Bros got into it with FTR instead.

A wrestling fan practically since birth, who has been hooked since he got his first toy wrestling ring for Christmas as a child. Since getting access to the internet, he's watched more wrestling than he could ever remember from all around the world. It's hard to keep track of what happens in the wild world of professional wrestling, but he always tries to stay up to date. Note: No relation to Tully Blanchard of Four Horsemen fame (probably).
