Despite their best efforts, The Elite left Full Gear with nothing but bumps, bruises, and less gold than when they went in. One of their biggest fails came against Christian Cage & Jurassic Express, in a now critically acclaimed Falls Count Anywhere fight. Jungle Boy took Matt Jackson out of action, but Adam Cole still stands. With Bobby Fish by his side, tonight he looks to take down Jurassic Express in a must see tag team clash.
CM Punk Is Ready For QT Marshall, Winter Is Coming Once Again To AEW
First, we’d catch up with CM Punk. He was called out by QT Marshall for a match on Dynamite in Chicago. It’s a high stakes match, facing Punk in his hometown – and Marshall can bring a factory of help, and will still fall. That match joins Colt Cabana vs. Bryan Danielson, Death Triangle & Cody Rhodes vs. FTR, Andrade & Malakai Black, and Thunder Rosa vs. Jaime Hayter. A solid lineup for a Thanksgiving Dynamite. Next Friday, Daniel Garcia meets Eddie Kingston on AEW Rampage: Black Friday.
Also announced is a big TV event. December 15th brings Winter is Coming back, which last year brought Kenny Omega winning the AEW World Heavyweight Championship and the chilling debut of Sting. This year, we are likely to see Bryan Danielson vs. Hangman Page, and perhaps the reveal of The Owen, a tournament held with the blessing of Martha Hart. It’s basically a PPV on free TV, so keep an eye on announced matches as it approaches.
Jurassic Express Take On Adam Cole & Bobby Fish In Instant Classic
Jungle Boy would kick off this one with Adam Cole, two equally matched wrestlers. Cole thought he had Jungle Boy in the corner with some boots, but ran into a back elbow. They’d trade waist control, before Jungle Boy hit a great armdrag… and took a pump kick. Fish was tagged in, and he’d nail the senton over the top rope, but Jungle Boy would go for the armdrag and followed up with the dropkick.
Luchasaurus would tag in and just nail a massive chop to Fish, before setting up the delayed senton from Jungle Boy. Fish would be able to get back into control, and get Jungle Boy back in the right corner. Cole & Fish cut the ring in half, and had wordless communication as they just beat him down. Quick tags, hard hits, just classic tag team wrestling done to perfection. Ushigoroshi got Cole a two count, before Jungle Boy was put in a sleeper hold.
The crowd was building up a lot of hype for the hot tag, and Jungle Boy was feeding off the crowd. He’d nail the Comebacker Lariat, a fitting move for his position. Jungle Boy would crawl to the tag, as would Fish. Cole was tagged in just soon enough to prevent the tag. Jungle Boy dodged some strikes, before leaping for the tag.
Fish Left Dead In The Water By Adam Cole
Luchasaurus was finally able to unleash, and he’d run down both Elite members. He’d look for a double chokeslam, but Fish countered out. Blind tag from Jungle Boy, and he’d hit a combination cutter, but Cole kicked out at two. Cole nailed a big enziguri, before Chasing the Dragon landed. Luchasaurus was able to make the save, before Cole was left alone with Jungle Boy.
He’d narrowly avoid the BOOM, and try for Snare Trap. Some fast counter wrestling end with a superkick to Jungle Boy before Panama Sunrise was countered, with Jungle Boy sending Cole into a powerbomb to Luchasaurus. Cole was then nailed with a forearm to the back of the head, but Fish made the save and the tag.
Fish would look to nail Flying Fish Hook, but took the Belly To Belly Suplex into the corner. The Young Bucks would come to ringside, and were run off with a steel chair from Christian Cage. Cole would leave with them, abandoning Fish to take The Snare Trap in the ring. Christian Cage & Luchasaurus held the line, and no one could help Fish… or maybe they didn’t want to.
Just a great tag team match, but another piece in a story that is getting drawn out. The action was crisp and smart, with these being two of the best tag teams in AEW. Jurassic Express are overdue for the AEW World Tag Team Championships, being AEW’s best homegrown team. The story of Cole abandoning Fish for The Bucks added a ripple to everything, which could make the future of The Elite even more interesting. Match Rating: 4/5 (****)
