It has been quite some time since AEW fans have seen the other half of SCU in AEW. Frankie Kazarian has been hunting The Elite ever since The Young Bucks forced SCU to follow through with their promise to break up on their next tag team loss. A tearful Being The Elite promo would be the last fans saw of Christopher Daniels in AEW, but he’s been keeping steady outside of the promotion.
Christopher Daniels Has A Long History With NJPW – Making His Return On December 15th
This will now result in Daniels making his return to NJPW, his first time in the promotion in about three years. Daniels has been announced for NJPW: NEMESIS, the final NJPW Strong event of 2021. It’s set to go down in Las Vegas on December 15th. Daniels has a long and storied history with NJPW, dating all the way back to his time under the Curry Man mask, where he held IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team gold with a certain American Dragon.
Now, as a more world travelled veteran, he has just as much to offer to NJPW. NJPW STRONG is building up a strong roster. Names like Buddy Matthews, Johan Rock, Josh Alexander, and now Christopher Daniels are adding up to create something special – and something that will only grow through 2022. No opponent for Daniels has been announced, but he could steal the show wrestling a mop.
What Is Keeping Him Out Of The Ring In AEW?
However this begs the question of what is the deal with him and AEW. While he’s unable to tag with Frankie Kazarian, there is value in someone like Daniels on the roster still. He holds a behind the scenes role as the Head of Talent Relations, but there is money being left on the table all the same with Daniels. Matches with young stars like Daniel Garcia & Lee Moriarty, or classic opponents like CM Punk or Bryan Danielson.
It’s unclear why they’re keeping him out of the ring, but it’s got nothing to do with his abilities in the ring. Perhaps the right moment is being chosen to bring him back. He could even return as a member of the House of Black stable, using a variation of his Fallen Angel character.
