While he’s shown up at All Out and last week on Dynamite – it’s time for Adam Cole to make his in-ring debut. He could have picked just about anyone, but he’s looking to make The Elite Hunter the Elite Hunted. Frankie Kazarian is his opponent, and it won’t be an easy fight for Cole, but that’s what he wants. You don’t prove you’re Elite with a squash match – and Kazarian is never someone who goes down easily. CM Punk was on commentary for this show, and named Cole as someone he wants to work with.
Frankie Kazarian Gives Adam Cole All He Could Handle
Kazarian would be having to quickly dodge a pump kick from Cole, taking him down with a side headlock takeover. Cole would fight out, but take a shoulder block and get wrestled down to the mat. Kazarian might not be a former world champion, but he’s as crafty as they come. Cole would break a second headlock with a backdrop over the top rope, sending Kazarian to the floor, hitting his face off the apron on the way down.
Kazarian would get time to recover, and hit a leg drop to the back of Cole’s head through the ropes. A sunset flip would see Cole roll through, before hitting a pump kick and a side headlock of his own. Kazarian would get a double armbar, but Cole would kick his way out and hit the Ushigoroshi. Cole would tune up the band, but the superkick was blocked into a Chaos Theory German Suplex.
Kazarian would hit a double knee strike in the corner before looking for a Crossface Chickenwing.Cole would break out with a pin attempt before getting a two count off a superkick. Panama sunrise was countered, and Kazarian would hit a leg drop for a two count. They’d trade blows in the middle of the ring, before Kazarian took the Complete Shot for a two count. Cole hit the Panama Sunrise and Last Shot, and it was over.
A fast paced and well booked match. Cole looked suitably crafty, while Kazarian was no slouch. We mainly saw Cole play his hits, but that was all fans wanted. Match Rating: 3/5 (***)
After the match, Cole would grab the microphone. Hope is a dangerous thing, and the AEW locker room hopes they can keep up with The Elite. Three men have gotten under his skin in particular. Christian Cage, Luchasaurus, and Jungle. Next week, he wants them on Rampage where they’ll take on the Superkliq. Will Jurassic Cage take this challenge?
