Right now, we’re coming up to an odd place in the history of AEW. They’re entering their third year of running weekly TV, which means some of their year one contracts are coming up. Recently The Young Bucks would renew their contracts, and Joey Janela expressed anxieties of his deal coming up in May – but now Big Swole has given her contract update. She will not be staying with AEW.
Big Swole Has Given Her Notice To AEW
Taking to Twitter to keep her fanbase in the loop, Swole would release her statement. It is as follows.
“Over the past couple of months my life has taken on the mantra grow, learn, change. Dealing with shadow work took strength I didn’t know I had. I thank God for my loving family because they got me through some of the roughest months of my life. But I realized the real test is application. So I took my leap and after speaking with TK and AEW higher officials we’ve decided not to renew my contract with All Elite Wrestling. This was a hard decision but a needed one. I am grateful for their understanding and that we could mutually come to this agreement. I’ve enjoyed my time with AEW and wish them all the best. I appreciate their love and welcoming me into the family. Today is my last day and as bittersweet as it is, I am proud to say that I’ve lived my dreams while making a difference. That is Swole Mentality.”
Not A Release, But A Mutual Agreement
This is not a situation of her being released from the company. Fans are used to WWE’s preferred method of moving on from talent, but here is a situation where talks were clearly had, and an agreement wasn’t made.
Swole is not the most surprising name to leave AEW. She’s very low on the AEW totem pole, not even getting a spot in the TNT Championship Tournament, and hasn’t been on AEW Dynamite in 2021. She’s normally found on Dark and Dark:Elevation, and that doesn’t seem to be changing.
Her next moves are not clear at this time. She has thrown a lot of hate towards WWE with their treatment of her husband, Cedric Alexander – so that doesn’t seem to be the way. Wherever she goes next, we can expect her to give 110% like always, and hopefully will find more time to shine.
