Drake Maverick has been released by the WWE for the second time in the last two years, so when he took to Twitter to share his thoughts we expected an emotional segment.
While the emotion was still there, he edited in a WWE video the company shared when he was first released in April 2020.
He joined John Morrison, Jaxson Ryker, Shane Thorne, and Hit Row on WWE’s most recent budget cutting efforts.
The video became nothing short of a masterpiece as he gave himself a much needed pep talk as it started out with him wearing a WWE shirt and looking depressed.
He told himself that no matter what he was asked to do by the WWE, he made the most of it and created moments and they tried to get rid of him. He even referenced the 24/7 title by saying he ran “around 24/7.”
He continued by telling himself he accomplished his goals and can’t be fired because he has so much more to accomplish.
He ended it by taking off the WWE shirt when his phone rang. He smiled and walked away.
This is worth a watch. Very well done and very powerful message by a gifted performer. https://t.co/r1r26HtAfI

Cena gives him props
After Maverick posted the video, John Cena retweeted it and gave him huge props for his work and ability in its production.
“This is worth a watch. Very well done and very powerful message by a gifted performer.”
Cena’s praise helped bring Maverick’s video to the attention of many and has some speculating it’s his way of helping him to gain notice for his talents since he may not agree with all of these releases.
Whatever his reason, it’s a great move on Cena’s part as Maverick took what has to be a heart wrenching moment and turned it around into a great positive and affirming moment for himself and others.
There’s no denying the work the wrestlers put into their gimmicks as many of those just released really sold them and were entertaining like Maverick’s.
While there’s always a chance the WWE will resign Maverick or the others at some point, this looks like the turning point for many and they could shift their focus to other companies like AEW, Impact, New Japan, and so on.
If nothing else, these releases continue to erode faith in the WWE in many fans eyes, and for those that stand by the company no matter what could have a rude awakening if the rumors are true and they sell to Disney shortly.
All of that aside, we wish Maverick and the other released talent the best going forward and hope they fulfill their dreams.
