Meghan Markle’s use of her Royal title has ended up creating more embarrassment for her.
Royal Expert Claims Meghan Markle’s Use Of Her Royal Title Is ‘Inviting Mockery More Than Anything Else’
That is according to Royal expert Jonathan Sacerdoti. Meghan, who is still known as the Duchess of Sussex, has been criticised by certain politicians within the United States, due to the fact that she is using her Royal title in order to get involved in US political affairs.
This all came to the fore when Meghan had reportedly written a letter to the House of Representatives speaker Nancy Pelosi to advocate paid parental leave.
Although Republican politician James Smith demanded that the Royal family remove her title in response, this has not happened. And yet, Jonathan felt that it was a disrespect to the Royal Family, given that she had decided to leave them.
Therefore, once she made the decision to leave, she automatically should have given up that entitlement which she felt she had previously had. But by continuing to use it, it has boarded on obsession.
In an interview, he said: “Meghan does seem to be obsessed with referring to herself as the Duchess of Sussex. That is indeed her title.
“But I think by constantly referring to it, she’s inviting mockery more than anything else.”
Nevertheless, not everyone saw it the same way. Reporter Neil Sean did not see anything wrong with it. In fact, he views it as necessary as it allows Meghan to draw attention to all the political and social work that she is doing across the globe.
In this way, it can only be a good thing as it allows her to give back to the community. In an episode of his show, he had stated: “[Her title is] very useful [and] gets people talking.
“But [it] is interesting that the people behind Megan realise the value, very much so, of those titles. And I think for Meghan herself she would not be stupid enough not to think they are very useful.”
With or without the title, Meghan will continue to have a say on the world stage. And as long as she is married to Prince Harry, this is unlikely to change.
