Queen Elizabeth II has decided to give a knighthood to none other than her private doctor Professor Sir Huw Thomas.
Queen Elizabeth II Knights Her Main Doctor Professor Sir Huw Thomas
Sir Huw, for his part, has been in service to the Queen as well as the Royals in general for more than 15 years. Therefore, his work has been invaluable in making sure that the Queen has managed to reign for so long.
So much so that the Queen is expected to celebrate her Platinum Jubilee next year, if she is still on this earth as it would mark her being in charge for 70 years.
And Sir Huw’s expertise have been needed more than ever following constant speculation surrounding the health of the Queen. Recent incidents included the Queen spending a night in hospital, in addition to reportedly spraining her back.
That is why she had been forced to cancel state visits following medical advice. And given that she now looks to be on the mend, this was the perfect time for the Queen to make sure that Sir Huw was rewarded.
The Queen had recognised Sir Huw with an insignia of a knight from the ‘The Royal Victorian Order’, which is something that the Queen gives for recognising personal service.
This was totally deserved in light of the workload that Sir Huw had been doing of late. During a previous statement given to Imperial College, Sir Huw remarked: “[It has been a] busy couple of years.
“[I am] very grateful to have been recognised for my service to date. You very much become part of that organisation and become the personal doctor to the principal people in it.”
Sir Huw will have his work cut out going forward, as it is clear that the Queen has to take things a little easier now. And the pandemic has only made that challenge a whole lot more difficult.
Sir Huw’s following comments confirmed as much: “With the pandemic, the key priority of the Medical Household is trying to make sure that the people under its care are kept safe.”
Sir Huw’s work has been vital in ensuring the stability of the monarchy during these tough times. Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
