Clay Harbor, who is best known for being on The Bachelorette, has apologised over his comments on current Bachelorette lead Michelle Young’s appearance.
‘The Bachelorette’: Clay Harbor Apologises Over His Controversial Comments About Michelle Young’s Appearance-‘I Meant No Disrespect’
Clay first introduced himself to the Bachelorette franchise when he appeared on Becca Kuffrin’s season of the show. While he failed to win over Becca, he did leave a good impression with the fans.
And yet, this may be in jeopardy following his latest comments about Michelle. What Clay perceived to be a compliment, ended up being anything but that.
In a prior post to his fans on Twitter, he had said: “Controversial opinion: Michelle is the most beautiful Bachelorette.”
Naturally, if this was taken at face value, then it would suggest that Clay found Michelle attractive. However, the response on social media viewed it in another way.
A certain subset of fans believed that Clay was mocking Michelle by suggesting that she should not be in the conversation when it comes to beautiful women. On the other hand, some fans understood that Clay meant no malice.
One fan wrote: “You actually meant disrespect because you compared a woman to 16 other women who held the title of the Bachelorette. Think before you post.”
While another stated: “I don’t understand what’s so bad about what you said. It was an opinion. Everyone is quick to jump down people’s throats over any little thing.”
This forced Clay to come out and clarify his comments. The last thing he wanted to do was objectify women by putting them on a certain standard. Nevertheless, Michelle has refused to comment on his words.
This is understandable given that she has bigger things to worry about and is most likely more focused on finding someone to settle down with rather than being worried about the background noise.
In the meantime, Clay came out to apologise. In a post on Twitter, he remarked: “Guys, when I said ‘controversial opinion Michelle is the most beautiful bachelorette’ I meant no disrespect.
“The controversial part is bc there has been so many beautiful women in that spot. (18, I think) Just trying to complement. Apologies if you were offended.”
