Conor McGregor, former two-division UFC champion, is keeping his options wide open. The Irishman, who is still recovering from a gruesome leg break sustained in his trilogy fight against Dustin Poirier, took to Twitter to diss welterweight Jorge Masvidal.
Initially, McGregor was boasting about the significance of November 12 to MMA fans. November 12 was the date of the inaugural UFC event as well as the night McGregor claimed his second title. McGregor’s first Tweet was relatively innocuous, at least by Mystic Mac’s standards.
Conor McGregor Calls Out Jorge Masvidal
“It’s crazy that November Twelfth is also the date UFC 1 took place. The very first event. 1993. Some strange, beautiful energy in the air on this date for our sport!
Inaugural UFC event! The Inaugural New York City event! The Inaugural UFC Champ Champ crowned! What a day!”
Of course, McGregor being McGregor, he had to trash somebody. In this case, it was Jorge Masvidal, who had to pull out of a bout with Leon Edwards due to an undisclosed injury.
“It’s also Jorge masvadal birthday but he a b*tch for bottling the fight against Leon. Fuck your “injury” You sign to fight, you fight. Strip that belt from him that he never even won. Hoe in a housecoat. The f*ck was that about as well? Last seasons Versace house coat hahaha wtf!” Masvidal was quick to fire back.
“I guess you’re off your meds again barking up the wrong tree and don’t be upset your client was about to be blessed with the biggest pay day of his life and now you don’t get a dime off his whack ass. Too much man for you little guy go back to fighting old dudes in bars”
McGregor quickly replied, dissing Masvidal’s taste in fashion. “Ye, ok sweetheart. Stick the kettle on for me in your little housecoat there. Me and Hans have a meeting about your pity wage today hahahaaha”
Masvidal reminded McGregor to “pipe down”. “Pipe down there little guy. I’m in a good mood so go annoy someone else before I put out the contract to get you hospitalized again #supernecessary”
Is Conor teeing up a fight against Masvidal? McGregor has fought at welterweight in the past, and actually has a better record at 170 pounds than in the lightweight division where he currently fights. Masvidal is on a losing streak, including consecutive losses to division champ Kamaru Usman, as is Conor McGregor.
