The recent AEW Dynamite special of Winter Is Coming will likely be remembered for the epic hour long match between Bryan Danielson & Hangman Page. However, tucked in the middle of the show was a fantastic promo from Malakai Black, who seems to finally be building up his House Of Black faction. He made references to someone who has a violent past, and now being more than just a king – and the whole promo was shot at the house of former ROH star Brody King – who is now signed to AEW.
Brody King Is Already Aligned With Malakai Black
For anyone paying attention to the outside work of Malakai Black, this is not a surprise. In Pro Wrestling Guerilla, Black & King hold the PWG Tag Team Championships, claiming the belts at PWG Threemendous VI. They defeated Black Taurus & Laredo Kid to win the vacant belts, as due to former champions The Rascals now being WWE NXT’s MSK – the belts couldn’t be defended.
Going under the name “The Kings Of Black”, they make a fantastic combo of power & speed, while having matching aesthetics with their imposing tattoos and love for heavy as hell music. King is even in a Hardcore Punk band named God’s Hate – which was used as the theme music for King’s VLNCE UNLTD faction in ROH.
God’s Hate Was Moved Off A Music Festival That Happened To Be On The Same Day As Battle Of The Belts
His involvement in that band is how fans figured out he was joining AEW, as his band had to be moved off the night of AEW Battle Of The Belts. This could signal that Black & King will battle the Lucha Bros for the AEW World Tag Team Championships at the event – potentially being the first gold won by Black in AEW. There is even a chance for this being a “Winner Takes All” match.
As of writing time, this signing has now been made public by AEW, but has been confirmed by sources within the company. Black recently attacked The Varsity Blondes, and will face Griff Garrison this coming Wednesday on AEW Dynamite. AEW owner Tony Khan has also told fans to watch out for debuts in the coming weeks – which matches up with King joining the company.
