Jake Paul has dismissed claims that his boxing match against Tyron Woodley included a “no knockout clause”. Following their initial fight back in August, Dillon Danis accused Paul of including a clause in their fight contract preventing Woodley from seeking a finish against the YouTuber.
However, in a recent press appearance, Paul scoffed at the idea, and pointed out that he is offering Woodley $500,000.00 if he can win via KO.
Jake Paul Dismisses “No Knockout Clause” Claims
You know me. I like to make things more interesting all the way across the board. There’s been this rumor going around about a no knockout clause in my contracts, which someone started and everyone else ran with.
People are like sheep. They just believe anything they read or see. That’s been a rumor that is completely untrue. I’d be in jail for rigging fights. It’s illegal. We just wanted to squash that rumor right away.
From now on, we will be giving bonuses to my opponents if they can knock me out because we want to incentivize them and prove to the media and the world that all of these rumors aren’t true.”
Paul’s advisor, Nikaria Bidarian, made it clear that he was serious about the offer, having included a pro-knockout clause in his fight contract with Tyron Woodley for their next bout.
“And to be clear, that’s contractual in Tyron’s agreement. There’s a contractual agreement that if he knocks out or TKOs Jake, he’ll get a $500,000 bonus payment.”
Tyron Woodley stepped up at short notice to replace Tommy Fury. Fury was sidelined by a gruesome injury to his ribs and a chest infection, allowing Woodley the chance at a rematch with Jake Paul. The former UFC welterweight champion made his pro boxing debut against Paul in August, losing the fight via decision.
It was a largely uneventful match, but with half a million dollars on offer, Tyron Woodley may well be looking to end the fight early.
Jake Paul remains undefeated in pro boxing, albeit against a string of non-boxers including Ben Askren and Tyron Woodley, both of whom were best known as wrestlers during their UFC tenures. Tommy Fury was supposed to be Jake Paul’s first opponent with a serious boxing pedigree, both literally and figuratively, as Fury is world heavyweight champ Tyson Fury’s younger brother.
