At UFC Vegas 44—or UFC on ESPN 31—the #14 ranked lightweight Rafael Fiziev defeated #12 ranked Brad Riddell in the third round with a spinning kick. In attendance was actor Vince Vaughn who is also a known MMA enthusiast.
Rafael Fiziev Wants Vince Vaughn Next
With his work for the day done, he joined Daniel Cormier for a post-fight interview. In it, he mentioned that after three months of prep and he’ll be ready for his next fight. However, the opponent he wants is Vince Vaughn:
Coming Off Impressive Win Rafael Fiziev Calls Out Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu God Vince Vaughn
“Give me three months and I’m ready to fight again. We have one legend here, maybe he wants to fight with me. Yeah, his name Vince Vaughn…Yeah, I love him.”
Vaughn was in good spirits about being named dropped by the fighter who now has an 11-1 record in the UFC. It was a light-hearted challenge since needing three months of training and prep for Vince Vaughn—who earned his BJJ blue belt in 2018 from the Gracie Academy—is a bit generous.
That is unless Vince Vaughn is some sort of secret Vale Tudo god. Then Fiziev might have a few beads of sweat and worry in the Octagon against the comedic leading man.
As this is the UFC and not the WWE or Triller Fight Club, don’t expect these two to square off any time soon. Although, it would be one of those fights that would have both the sports world and the entertainment world buzzing.
The win over Brad Riddle earned Fiziev “Performance of Night” honors, his previous fight against Bobby Green at UFC 265 went the distance and picked up a “Fight of the Night” nod.
