Hiromu Takahashi was always expected to make the finals of Best of The Super Juniors. He is the ace of the division, but a time limit draw with current champion El Desperado added some doubt – but he made it all the same.
YOH on the other hand, started this tournament off losing four straight matches before becoming unglued and winning every remaining match. No one has made the finals after going 0-4, and tonight YOH can be the first to make the finals and win it all after a slow start.
Hiromu Takahashi Tries To Chop Through The Chest
Starting with some grappling, YOH & Hiromu would lock up in the middle of the ring. Takahashi would be taken to the mat but was able to make the ropes before the armbar ws fully extended. YOH would have his legs snatched as Hiromu grabbed the arms to press them to the mat for a two count.
Hiromu got the legs wrapped up, and tied up one of the knees before YOH got the bottom rope. The next grappling exchange was a stalemate, before they’d just exchange slaps in the middle of the ring. No flash knockouts before they moved to chops, with Hiromu winning out.
The chops of Hiromu were turning the chest red, before YOH was taken outside for a shotgun dropkick off the apron. Back in the ring, more chops came to YOH – who would final hold his own in strikes. Hiromu would be able to take him down and nail a rushing shotgun dropkick for a two count.
Not keen on losing yet YOH fired back with a big Falcon Arrow, before going into the StarGazer – but Hiromu made the ropes rather than tap out. Hiromu would show off his submission, a Triangle Choke simply called “THE D”. YOH would get the ropes, before being driven into the corner with the Death Valley Driver.
YOH Sees A Ghost Of His Past
The enziguri from Hiromu would be blocked into a big German Suplex – with him just full on landing on his head. YOH wanted Direct Drive, but Hiromu blocked into some inside cradles. A superkick would be thrown, before Hiromu caught a flying knee strike into a powerbomb! Both men were slow back to their feet, but were quick to throw some big strikes near the twenty minute mark.
YOH nailed a huge dropkick, before being chucked into the corner with a Belly To Belly Suplex into the corner. On the apron, Hiromu nailed the Death Valley Driver, doing even more big damage to YOH. The countout didn’t come, but he blocked the Sunset Bomb into a hurricanra, before hitting a big dive over the top rope.
SHO would come to ringside, keen to ruin this finals match. The referee was attacked, Young Lions tossed, and YOH was hit with a Cross Armed Piledriver. Hiromu was pissed, but SHO would give him a piledriver as well. Both men in the match were laid out, and SHO drug the referee over the to bell to call for a No Contest – but this was refused. Goto & YOSHI-HASHI would run SHO off, and Shingo & Naito were also here to keep the peace.
Hiromu & YOH had time to regroup after the piledrivers on the floor, with their faction mates urging them on. Time was ticking away, but this match has no time limit. Both men pulled themselves up into the ring – and this match would have a proper conclusion despite the meddling of SHO.
This Match Will End Properly – Not On The Terms Of SHO
Both men would fight to their feet, with Hiromu screaming at YOH to get up alongside him. YOH sprinted forward with a shotgun dropkick, and Hiromu fired back with one of his own! Hiromu got the second in a row, but Time Bomb was blocked into a roll up for two! YOH wanted the Five Star Clutch, but instead took a German Suplex.
Another attempt at Time Bomb was blocked, as was Victory Royale – with YOH grabbing wrist control and nailing two big headbutts. Hiromu broke wrist control and hit a lariat, before Victory Royale – but YOH kicked out at two! Time Bomb II was blocked, and YOH got the Dragon Screw, setting up a potential tap out from StarGazer.
Hiromu was set up on the top rope, and the superplex into Drop The Needle would be met with the Hiromu Roll for two! YOH nailed a huge superkick, turning Hiromu inside out, before getting an incredibly close two count. Direct Drive was blocked, Hiromu rolling into Time Bomb for yet another near fall!
YOH would land an absolutely massive lariat, screaming out after impact. He’d lift Hiromu up, and knew Direct Drive was all he had. Instead, Hiromu got the big lariat. Jay Driller would land from Hiromu, before YOH dodged a lariat and got two off the Five Star Clutch. One more big lariat from Hiromu and Time Bomb II would finally end this.
