When it comes to the legends of professional wrestling, sometimes all it takes to build a legacy is a strong spirit and a 2×4. This is what makes Hacksaw Jim Duggan known to fans, as throughout the 80’s and 90’s, he was a dependable babyface force in both the WWF & WCW. Not the best worker of his era, Duggan was often more of a powerhouse brawler, and an American Hero much like Hulk Hogan.
Hacksaw Jim Duggan Was Diagnosed With Prostate Cancer Earlier This Year
In recent years, Duggan remains at indy events as a special guest – but 2021 brought a major scare. He had been diagnosed with prostate cancer. One in every eight men will be diagnosed with this form of cancer, with it being common in those over the age of 65 like Duggan. This would lead to Duggan going in for surgery, and fans sending their thoughts and prayers.
The surgery went off without a hitch, and now Duggan has a very positive message for the worried fans. He’d post a video to twitter of him up and standing by his decorated Christmas Tree, saying the following.
All The Cancer Was In His Prostate, Is Now Cancer Free
“Hi everybody. I just want to share the great news I just received that my cancer was all encapsulated inside my prostate. They checked my bones, that came out clear. The surrounding tissue came out clear, and the lymph nodes came out clear. So, thank God I’m cancer-free. You know, this is my second bout with cancer. Twenty years ago I had kidney cancer, now prostate cancer. Folks, remember, early detection saves lives. And merry, merry Christmas. Ho, Ho, Hooo!”
Going 2-0 against cancer is the most important stat of his life and wrestling career. It’s always great to see people winning their battles against the deadly disease. Another legend who is actively fighting cancer is Jim Ross, who is currently off AEW programming as he battles skin cancer. He is keeping fans posted as he gets a total of 27 radiation treatments.
