While Santos Escobar was gone, Elektra Lopez was the one running Legado Del Fantasma. Xyon Quinn caught her eyes when he beat Robert Stone in both a fight – and a dance off. However, whatever chemistry was found between Lopez & Quinn was not enough to get him to accept the offer to join the faction. Once Escobar returned, he took the fight right to Quinn. Tonight, Quinn has the honor of facing the former NXT Cruiserweight Champion, in what is easily his biggest match ever.

Legado Del Fantasma Outplays Xyon Quinn

Escobar wasn’t intimidated by the entrance of Quinn, like smaller opponents might. He’d take Quinn to the corner for a huge overhand chop, before running into a double forearm smash. Quinn nailed Snake Eyes in the corner, sending Escobar flopping into the middle of the ring.

A big scoop slam would set up a senton over the ropes, but Wilde & Mendoza would distract and allow Escobar to regain some control. Escobar was being physically overwhelmed, but is the veteran and would find his opening to get the jump on Quinn. From there, he’d work on breaking him down, nailing a set of double knee strikes into the corner.

Quinn would have his arm attacked. Never before has he been taken into deep waters like this, but he would make the comeback with a Manhattan Drop and a running lariat. Escobar dodged a running elbow in the corner before a gamiguri to the face. Quinn came back with the twisting Samoan Drop, but Lopez ran a quick distraction.

All the same, he took Escobar to the top rope. Escobar was more comfortable up top, and nailed a huge frankensteiner from the top! Lopez would arm Quinn with brass knuckles, and he’d be wondering why. The referee would catch him, and Escobar hit the knee strike and Phantom Driver for the win.

    Match Rating: 3.25/5 (*** 1/4)

After an emotional night at NXT WarGames, fans are as curious as ever what the future of Gargano in NXT is. He’s long been the heart of the brand, someone that fans have attached themselves to. Johnny Wrestling, Johnny Takeover, and other nicknames have been earned through his incredible matches.

Tonight, he promises fans that he will tell them everything – giving a clue at where his future is. Candice LeRae was here to support him, hard at work building the future of the Gargano family – due to have their first child in February. Pawdme was also here, the ultimate in moral support.

Johnny Gargano Speaks From The Heart

Rebel Heart would play once again, and Gargano got a hero’s welcome to the ring. He was already emotional as he paced around the ring and asked for a microphone. The crowd went for a Johnny Wrestling chant, and he explained he has as much time as needed. Whatever is on after NXT can wait.

It won’t be his most eloquent promo, because he didn’t want to script this. He wanted to live in the moment for once. For years, he was always doubting if things were good enough. They deserved wrestling they could be proud of, and Gargano hopes he gave them that. In 2015, he was told he’d never be in NXT – now he’s NXT. William Regal brought him back for a match with Apollo Crews, and that was the start of him being brought back again and again.

The fans were a big part of letting him leave his dream. He’s a man who has always had confidence issues, and is doubting himself even now. For years, people wondered why he stayed in NXT, and it was because he loves it. NXT has become his family, everyone from Triple H to Vic Joseph.

    Grayson Waller Ruins The Moment

Change is scary, but sometimes it needs to happen. The message he wants to leave is, you will never fail if you bet on yourself. His future is unclear, everything is up in the air, but in February his most important job starts as he becomes a dad. That is what he’s looking forward to right now.

Grayon Waller would run in and hit Gargano with a steel chair, and was met with a big “asshole” chant. He’d wrap the chair around the neck of Gargano before tossing him into the steel steps. A powerbomb through the table closed out the night, with more questions than answers.

Is this the way WWE writes Gargano off from NXT TV? Did he sign a new deal? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
