WWE NXT Takeover: Stand & Deliver Night Two Results: Jordan Devlin vs. Santos Escobar [WWE NXT Cruiserweight Championship Unification Ladder Match]

When the COVID-19 pandemic started, it was just as Jordan Devlin looked to prove he was not only the Irish Ace, but the ace of the NXT Cruiserweight division. He’d instead end up shutdown in the UK, while NXT slowly moved Santos Escobar from Interim Cruiserweight Champion to the real deal.

This pissed Devlin off, so the first chance he got? He was back on American soil to defend his honor as champion. Tonight, the two champions will clash to see who belongs on top, and this will be decided in a ladder match!

The Start Of An Instant Classic

Neither man showed an ounce of fear in this match, as their titles were raised up high. They’d start trading blows as soon as the bell rang, with Devlin dropping Escobar with a back elbow and a deep japanese style arm drag. Escobar would set up Legado, and Devlin looked for the Devil-Inside, but neither signature move hit.

Devlin hit a uranage and standing moonsault, sending Escobar to the outside. Escobar was taken out with a sky high springboard moonsault, and Devlin whacked his head on the announce table. He’d be fine and introduce the first ladder into the match.

Escobar tried to baseball slide in, but Devlin simply lifted it up and let him slip underneath before hitting him with the ladder. Devlin started to climb as Wade Barrett claimed he never made it more than four rungs up. Escobar saved himself from losing by pulling Devlin down and throwing him into the ladder.

Devlin would be down while Escobar set the ladder up in the corner, before throwing Devlin into it and sending him to the outside. Escobar nailed a running knee strike to sandwich Devlin between himself and the barricade, before grabbing some more ladders and setting one up. Devlin got into the ring as Escobar set up the ladder, so Escobar dropkicked it into him, and let it fall onto his knees.

Escobar battered Devlin into the corner with a ladder, before driving it into his ribs with a basement dropkick. Devlin was down as Escobar set up a ladder, but Escobar stomped him down. A slap to the face of Devlin woke him up, and he threw Escobar face first into the ladder.

Jordan Devlin & Santos Escobar Take The Division To New Heights

Escobar would make an error by going for a slingshot into the ladder, with Devlin landing on the ladder and touching the belts before Escobar realized and took a DDT off the ladder. Escobar fought back and sent Devlin to the outside, and hit The Arrow From The Depths Of Hell and crushed Devlin into another ladder at ringside.

Devlin kept getting back up and would counter the Angels Wings attempt, right onto the ladder. Escobar was rocked, but countered the Devil-Inside Suplex with a knee strike. Devlin came back with the standing spanish fly and the twisting cutter to drop Escobar.

Escobar was down, and Devlin was looking to dive off the ladder onto him, and nailed the moonsault off the top of the ladder right onto Escobar. Devlin had Escobar out, before Joaquin Wilde & Raul Mendoza, the other members of Legado Del Fantasma ran in and took Devlin out for their leader.

Escobar gladly sent them to the back, their work done as he started his climb. Devlin came back to life and threw a ladder at Escobar to prevent him from grabbing them. Another ladder was set up, and they were parallel. Devlin hit the Spanish Fly off the ladder, another daredevil move. Escobar was down, and Devlin started his climb, but it wasn’t fast after this brawl.

Devlin & Escobar both made it to the top, and a headbutt from Escobar sent Devlin through a ladder. He simply reached up, and grabbed both titles to become the true Cruiserweight Champion!
