Things have been working out oddly well for Riho in AEW as of late. During the Casino Battle Royale at All Out, she was not legally eliminated from the match, going through the top and second rope, instead of over the top. This meant she had a claim to a shot at the AEW World Women’s Championship – a belt she was the inaugural holder of.
She’d get a chance to earn another chance at the belt, and took full advantage with a win over champion Britt Baker. Since then, it’s become common knowledge that Riho has the number of Baker – and that Baker has not once beaten her. Tonight, with the AEW World Women’s Championship on the line at Battle of The Belts, failure is not an option if Baker wants to remain top dog.
Riho Has Too Many Bodies To Focus On
There was some trouble in the camp of Baker, with Jamie Hayter getting more and more fed up with the antics of Baker. All the same, Baker needs to focus on Riho – who is dangerous in this ring. Both Rebel & Hayter would grab at the feet of Riho, allowing Baker to get a cheap shot before being sent to the outside with a dropkick. Riho dove off the top and got Rebel instead, before Baker hit a slingblade.
Hayter helped Baker pull out a table, but Riho was able to take advantage and run up the table to kick Hayter in the face. Back into the ring, Riho would be hit with a suplex before being cornered with some strikes. Baker nailed a suplex and some cravat trapped knee strikes. Riho would break free and roll Baker into a double stomp.
Jamie Hayter Almost Costs Britt Baker Another Match
A drop toehold would set up a 619, before Baker fled to the apron. Rebel took the double stomp for Baker, and in the ring Baker would dodge the second attempt. Curb Stomp would miss, but Baker almost applied Lockjaw. Riho would counter out twice, before the stomp landed for a two count.
Hayter would throw a belt into the ring, and the referee would throw out Rebel for it. Riho took advantage of the argument and hit the Crucifix Bomb and Northern Lights Suplex for a two count. The running knee was blocked, and Baker hit a second curb stomp for another near fall. Lockjaw was applied, and Riho tapped out right away.
After the match, Hayter would hug it out with Baker after a tense moment with the belt, before the show faded to black.
