Britt Baker is AEW’s current heel women’s champion and she’s had a pretty dominant run as she’s run away often, but fought her way to victory when she’s had to, albeit with some help on occasions.
She’s also credited as being the first All Elite woman as she’s been with AEW since the company’s beginning, and she’s risen to the top as a top heel women’s champion.
Britt has dominated the women’s division since winning the championship from Hikaru Shida, albeit with some help at times.
She’s provoked and run when she’s had to in true heel fashion and has helped make AEW’s women’s division one of the best in the world.
Can’t trust them
She recently sat down with Kenny McIntosh from Inside the Ropes for an interview, and the topic of possibly working for WWE came up.
She was asked about any interest WWE offered her and would she consider leaving a company where she’s the top female star and as several main event matches to her credit.
Britt responded, choosing her words carefully to avoid any potential problems or backlash while being blunt.
“I mean, exactly, I can’t disagree with you. They definitely expressed interest—unfortunately, I’ve got to pick and choose how I say this—but I just feel like you can’t trust anything with that company, whereas at AEW I’ve never been promised anything that didn’t follow through.
So, it’s something that, unfortunately, it’s sad that it comes down to that, that it makes a company not really desirable because you can’t trust anything they say. And I know business is business, and I understand totally that’s what it is, but as a wrestler, business is business as well.”
Given the WWE released 81 wrestlers in 2021 with many in the middle of a build up or push we don’t think anyone can fault her for being cautious and not be willing to buy into the WWE completely.
She has multiple former WWE stars she can talk to about what goes on there like Malakai Black and her boyfriend Adam Cole, as well as Bryan Danielson and others.
With a well balanced group to rely on as well as what she’s seen, there’s no doubt she’ll make the best decision for herself when it comes time.
She’s showing no sign of wanting to leave AEW as she also stated she loves working there and the support she’s received.
