‘Bachelor’ lead Clayton Echard has spoken on how the perception of him on social media has affected him.
Clayton Echard Admits He Has Become ‘Overwhelmed’ By The Social Media Comments About Him
The show has often been criticised by portraying its contestants in a manner that is polar opposite to their personalities for the sake of entertainment.
Although people understand that, by virtue of the contract they sign, the very fact of the matter is that the public at home are not often considering that when it comes to forming an opinion about a particular person.
And that has been something that Clayton has struggled to deal with, especially because of the increasing amount of scrutiny he is getting on social media towards his performance on the franchise.
During an interview on the ‘Bachelor Happy Hour’, Clayton said: “I think at first it was kind of quiet so I was able to respond as much as I could.
“And then the first episode aired and all of a sudden, it just opened the floodgates and at that point, I started to get overwhelmed.”
But this is not a surprise given that Clayton has become a mainstay member of the franchise, as he has also appeared on ‘The Bachelorette’ during Michelle Young’s season of the show.
As the gap between his appearances on the respective shows was very short, the public have had an extra opportunity to view him interacting as a lead as well as a contestant.
So much so that he has managed to generate an audience from both shows, which has resulted in him becoming inundated with comments that he has found difficult to ignore.
He added: “I have definitely fallen victim to reading everything, which everybody’s told me, ‘Stop reading all the comments,’ but my thought was if I know what’s out there, there’s no surprises.”
Time will tell ultimately how Clayton Echard views his time on the show. And if he can manage to find somebody to settle down with, then he is not likely to care about the extra baggage that has been accompanying him.
After all, it will only be a matter of time before somebody else becomes a lead, thus making him no longer relevant. Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
